Research and tagging programme with Durban University
Mark and his team have been tagging a number of Tiger Sharks since 1999. Primarily to better understand their movements around the area when they are in residence, and during the winter months when they leave Aliwal where they go to.

So far the tags have been limited to Radio which only have a short range, in 2006 they have 2 satellite tags supplied which will allow tracking anywhere up the East Coast of South Africa.

These have been successfully deployed and the data received over a four month period is now giving a first hand insight as to where these females go and their behaviour patterns.
