Sardine Run South Africa – Photographic Tour

Join us to witness one of the wonders of the natural world "The Annual Sardine Run" up the East coast of South Africa.

Described "As the greatest range extension of any living creature on the planet" This rush of literally billions of sardines, each year attracts predators in their thousands. Imagine the gathering of twenty thousand common dolphins, forming lines sometimes a hundred miles across. Five thousand bottlenose dolphins, tens of thousands of Cape Gannets, and thousands of sharks. Add to this animals ranging from Bryde’s whale’s to game fish, and you are presented with a marathon feast of huge proportions.

This will be Tony Whites 7th year at the Sardine Run in 2003 A film documenting Tonys work here was commissioned and shown By the National Geographic Channel both in the USA and Internationally. It is with this experience he can offer the following with confidence.

Limited to six participants plus Tony White in conjunction with Mark Addison of Blue Wilderness Dive Expeditions S.A. The premier expert on this spectacular event, who has played host to David Doubilet, Doug Perrine and both the BBC Wildlife and National Geographic film crews in the past years. Our destination will be flexible depending on the position of the sardines at the time.

On our arrival in East London S.A. we will transfer to our 4 star accommodation from where we will be ideally situated to take full advantage of this awesome spectacle. A typical day will consist of 06.30 – Breakfast – 07.30 – 08.00 Boat launch – 14.00 – 16.00 Boat returns depending on daily action – 18.30 -20.00 Supper and evening at leisure. Whilst at sea during the days we will be supported by a micro-lite aircraft giving detailed information of the where abouts of the concentrations of marine life in the area.
